I have been blogging since 2003. The first two years I blogged in free journal communities – Blurty and Live Journal, and even dabbling in Blogger (here in the blog!) when I was planning my wedding. I got my own domain for free when I trained for web hosting support in my former place of employment. From there I added more online nooks for me. Today I am writing on 8 blogs. It is hard to maintain, if you honestly ask me. And it can be costly, with acquiring and maintaining ownership of the domain and renewing hosting services. I am lucky I get to share a very nice and comprehensive hosting package with three other friends. Even if I have trained for web support, I am still very much technical-challenged.
It is such a hard task to choose among hundreds of web hosts online. But you should always do your research before signing up. Things you need to look around for are its features and pricing. And get some real feedback from people who have tried their services. You would need a web hosting company that has 99.9% uptime activity and a great and reliable customer service. Easy user interface management would be a plus too.
