Get Secured. Be Insured

Times can be very scary nowadays. Remember the big brouhaha over the pension plans of Americans disappearing because of the global financial crisis? During that time, I actually was happy that I haven’t gotten any insurance plans for my family. I said to myself that investing on one is not really that good anymore especially with the way inflation is so high – the 1M insurance plan you got for yourself will be worthless by the time you get it. That 1 million will just be equivalent to a thousand bucks. However, one should not rely on the current financial crisis alone, and decide from there if investing on insurance policies and stocks is worth it.

There are term insurance quotes that are just perfect at certain points in one’s life. For example, getting a college plan for your baby within his first year of life would be perfect timing. Her premium rates are very affordable and there are plans these days when you can opt for a cashout after a certain number of years. It would be very much like saving but earns a higher interest, with certain cash outs in phases.

I’m sure with different plans out there, one would find a perfect plan for them.

Drunk Driving

I wish my country will be like the US – they are very strict and have stringent rules about drunk driving. Here, there  are no strict rules or even checkpoints and traffic meters to check people and those who are speeding (some people speed drive when they are drunk).

For example, in the US, example Brockton, Massachusetts, there are several tests for a police officer to know if the driver of a vehicle is intoxicated with alcohol (drunk). They usually ask the driver if they had been drinking and let them walk in a straight line, heel-to-toe, finger-to-nose, one-leg stand, alphabet recitation, modified position of attention (Rhomberg), fingers-to-thumb, hand pat, etc.. They might also ask the driver to follow with his eyes the penlight across his eyes the officer will be flashing. This is called the "horizontal gaze nystagmus" test. Officers do at least five of these and you must need to pass at least three so they can classify you as “safe”. Otherwise, they might call you in for some alcohol blood tests. You would need a Massachusetts OUI Lawyer if blood level tests come out with above normal results.

Here, people get away with hit-and-run accidents because police officers are ill-equipped with radars and good police cars to run after suspects!

Credit Card Problems

It seems more and more collection agencies are becoming more aggressive these days in following up delinquent clients. It actually proves to show that there are more people not being able to pay up their dues on time. I saw it being featured once on the news. And since there is really no concrete law to be able to charge delinquent credit card owners, the only thing they can resort to is close to harassing customers! A Collection Agency is actually based on commission so I can understand if there are agents who can really be a pest when calling you. Money is a great manipulating factor for a person to do his job well!

I am happy to say we (me and my husband) was finally able to zero balance our one card which has not been zeroed out for an entire year. Our move really wiped us out (with me being out of work) so that card really took a beating (let’s say a swiping as well!). We are so close to having zero debt on credit cards because the other one’s balance is payable next month. This means I can actually make demands to the husband to buy new things for the house :)

In the World of Computers

I recently connected with high school friends over at Facebook. I was really surprised to learn that almost all of us are all over the world already. Most of them are in Singapore, pursuing fields on architecture, engineering and it consulting. There are those in the US after being absorbed by the mother company who they did outbound support for before. There is even one who is involved with IT consulting as well who has travelled around the world for free already – I saw pictures of him in Paris and Australia and even the US (he has been all over the 50 states too).

It seems that the world of IT is the career to go to these days (aside from health, of course – love your own). I have friends who are lucky to have the choice to work from home and earn big and report to the office on certain days. This is an ideal setup for mothers like me who have young kids and have trouble leaving them to nannies and daycare centers! There are even career advancement opportunities that take them all over the world – like what my high school friend experienced.

Sometimes, I wonder what my career would be like if I switched to IT.

Why Women Cry

Thanks for this Farah!

Why Women Cry

Watch her eyes
A little boy asked his mother, "Why are you crying?" "Because I'm a woman," she told him.

"I don't understand," he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, "And you never will."

Later the little boy asked his father, "Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?"

"All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.

Finally he put in a call to God. When God got on the phone, he asked, "God, why do women cry so easily?"

God said
"When I made the woman she had to be special.
I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort.
I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children.
I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining.
I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly.
I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.
I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.
And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed."
"You see my son," said God, "the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides."

Friday Fillins.

And...here we go!
1. Giving alms to the poor was my last random act of kindness.
2. Another place to wish for this summer is Blue Coral in Laiya.
3. I am at peace in matters of the heart.
4. Coffee, tea or Mango Shake, my favorites.
5. It’s sad when career and love need to go on separate paths.
6. Our clock reminds me that there is a task waiting to be fulfilled.
7. And as for the weekend, , tomorrow my plans include finishing life insurance comparison quotes!

Have you ever wanted to create website but don’t know how and where to begin? There is a web site called Bluevoda.com that lets you create your own web site with no knowledge of HTML and CSS codes required. Their web interface application lets you drag and drop images and text making it so easy for you to create single pages or even multiple pages.

They also have hundreds of free copyright images you can use and a helpful community forum you can turn to for help if you can’t seem to go around their web site interface application. If that isn’t helpful enough, they have video tutorials to take you through step-by-step in making your site.

They have various designs on web site templates and headers so your site can have a more polished, clean and professional look.

Blood Pressure Monitors

Having a background in the medical field and being a part of the medical professional industry, I have always seen Allegro Medical equipment in hospitals. They have just been founded in 1996 and now serves one million customers already! They first started in the medical equipment and home health care supplies but quickly branched out to mainstream consumer retail products such as Exercise & Fitness Equipment, Nutritional Dietary Supplements, Maternity/Baby Supplies and Outdoor Gear. One of their items  are blood pressure monitors – I strongly recommend every household has one and each member of the family knows how to take blood pressure especially if there are elderly in the household.

From Mai.

How to Survive during Tough Times.

Hard work: All hard work brings profit; but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Laziness: A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.

Earnings: Never depend on a single source of income.

Spending: If you buy things you don't need, you'll soon sell things
you need.

Savings: Don't save what is left after spending; Spend what is
left after saving.

Accounting: It's no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking.

Auditing: Beware of little expenses; a small leak can sink a large ship.

Risk-taking: Never test the depth of the river with both feet.

Investment: Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Beauty School

I have a childhood friend who, even when we were young, always wanted to fix hair and apply make-up. Our favorite playtime was “salon time” where we would all pretend we were having our manicures and getting a nice haircut. Of course, she would be one wielding the scissors! So it wasn’t any surprise to me when I learned she studied in one of the best michigan cosmetology schools and now works for a high-end salon. Considering the high end prices of hair cuts in the US, I am sure she is earning a decent amount. Plus, she has turned to her passion - teaching. She teaches the latest hairstyle techniques and the basics of make-up application twice a week.
